Im Rahmen der Universitäts-Kooperation Dortmund-Iowa werden vier Professoren von der Universität Iowa aus den Bereichen Raumplanung, Amerikanistik und Mathematik an der Dortmunder Universität im Mai und Juni Gastvorträge halten. Studierende, Medien und Interessierte sind hierzu eingeladen.
Prof. James Throgmorton wird am Freitag, 25. Mai, mit seinem Vortrag "Making Space for Stories that sustain" die Gastvortragsreihe beginnen. Die Veranstaltung findet um 10:15 Uhr im Raum 3.208b des Hauses Emil-Figge-Straße 50 statt.
Prof. John Raeburn wird die Reihe mit gleich zwei Vorträgen fortsetzen. Am Donnerstag, 31. Mai, spricht er um 17:30 Uhr im Raum 3.206, Emil-Figge-Str. 50, zum Thema "Approaching a City: Edward Hopper's and Bernice Abbot's New York". Am Freitag, 1. Juni, ist "Negro Metropolis: Documentary Photography and Harlem in the Thirties" sein Thema - um 10.15 Uhr im Raum 3.208b.
"Phase-Field Simulations of Convective Effects in Solidification Microstructure Development" so lautet schließlich das Thema, zu dem am Freitag, 1. Juni, um 11.15 Uhr im Hörsaal E5 der Universitätsbibliothek Prof. Dr. Chr. Beckermann sprechen wird. Der weltweit anerkannte Experte für 'Erstarrungsvorgänge' ist in Modellierung wie auch numerischer Simulation realistischer Anwendungen führend.
