Der Rudolf Jaeckel-Preis der Deutschen Vakuumgesellschaft (DVG) geht in diesem Jahr an Professor Matthias Scheffler, Direktor des Theoriedepartments am Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max Planck-Gesellschaft in Berlin. Mit dem Preis werden Schefflers grundlegende und international anerkannte theoretische Arbeiten zum Verständnis der physikalischen und chemischen Prozesse an Festkörperoberflächen und Interfaces sowie in Nanostrukturen gewürdigt.
Der Preis wird auf dem 5th Symposium on Vacuum based Science and Technology SVST 5 verliehen, das in Verbindung mit der 9. DVG-Jahrestagung vom 28. bis 30. September 2010 in Kaiserslautern stattfindet.
Die DVG hat ihre Geschäftsstelle im IFOS in Kaiserslautern.
