Anlässlich der Emeritierung des Würzburger Mathematikers Prof. Dr. Josef Stoer findet am Freitag, 20. Juli, ein öffentliches Kolloquium statt. Ab 14.00 Uhr befassen sich drei Referenten mit Themen aus der Angewandten Mathematik: Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Hoffmann (München) spricht über die "Schalldämpfung mit Hilfe adaptiver Materialien: ein Steuerungsproblem". Über "Industrielle Anwendungen der mathematischen Optimierungen" berichtet dann um 15.30 Uhr Prof. Dr. Klaus Schittkowski aus Bayreuth. Nach einer Pause folgt um 17.00 Uhr der Vortrag "Virtuelle Welten aus dem Rechner", gehalten von Prof. Dr. Roland Bulirsch (München). Das Kolloquium findet im Hörsaal 2 des Naturwissenschaftlichen Hörsaalgebäudes am Hubland statt.
