Minister for Economics Jörg Bode at the Valediction of the LZH Founder Professor Dr.-Ing. Heinz Haferkamp
Over 60 honorary guests, among them Lower Saxony Minister of Economics Jörg Bode, were present last Friday for the valediction of LZH founder professor Dr.-Ing. Heinz Haferkamp from the Board of Directors of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH).
Haferkamp was active with his colleagues Professor Tönshoff and Professor Welling for over 24 years after founding the LZH in 1986, with the support of the Lower Saxony Ministry for Economics (Wirtschaftsministeriums des Landes Niedersachsen). He helped the LZH to become one of the core research institutes of the state, and one of the leading laser institutes in Europe.
Not only Haferkamp's long years of experience at the university and in industry, including various functions in executive committees and supervisory bodies, have contributed significantly to the institute's role as an important economic factor in Lower Saxony. "The LZH is an outstanding example of a worthwhile investment in research and development. Since its founding, the institute has secured approximately 170 million Euros in third-party funding, created hundreds of jobs, and has served as an important impulse giver for top research in Lower Saxony," said Minister of Economics Bode in his salutation for Haferkamp.
