Die internationale Konferenz "SIIT – Standardization and Innovation in Information Technology" wird alle zwei Jahre organisiert und findet dieses Jahr zum 7. Mal statt, und zwar vom 28. bis 30. September in Berlin.
Ziel der Konferenz ist es, den Austausch zwischen Vertretern der Forschung, Praxis, Politik und Regelsetzung im IKT-Bereich zu fördern. An den drei Tagen wird ein breites Themenspektrum rund um die Normung und Standardisierung im IKT-Sektor geboten – mit Beiträgen über aktuelle Fragen zur Forschung, Konsortien, Patenten und offenen Standards. Ein Schwerpunkthema am zweiten Tag ist die geplante Neuausrichtung der IKT-Normungspolitik der Europäischen Kommission. Gastgeber sind das Fraunhofer Institut für Offene Kommunikationssysteme (FhI FOKUS), die TU Berlin sowie BITKOM. Das DIN ist Mitsponsor der Konferenz und mit eigenen Präsentationen vertreten.
