Serengeti beruft Berliner Wildtierforscher
Professor Dr. Reinhold R. Hofmann, Direktor des Berliner Instituts fuer Zoo- und Wildtierforschung (IZW), ist vom Generaldirektor des Serengeti Wildlife Research Instituts (SWRI) zum Mitglied des international besetzten Wissenschaftlichen Beirats des SWRI ernannt worden, der seinen Sitz in Arusha, Tansania, hat. Hauptaufgabe des Beirats ist es, das wissenschaftliche Programm des SWRI zu ueberpruefen und Empfehlungen abzugeben. Das SWRI ist fuer die Koordination der Wildtierforschung in Tansania verantwortlich. Professor Hofmann hat die Einladung angenommen, zumal er von 1962 bis 1972 in Ostafrika taetig war und dabei auch tansanische Tieraerzte ausgebildet sowie Wildforschungsarbeiten in Tansania durchgefuehrt hat, zuletzt im Rahmen des von der GTZ gefoerderten ,Selous Conservation Programme".
