Am 4. April 2012 nahm an der Fachhochschule Erfurt Dr.-Ing. Doris Gstach ihre Ernennungsurkunde als Professorin entgegen.
Professorin Gstach lehrt an der Fachrichtung Stadt- und Raumplanung der Fakultät Architektur und Stadtplanung das Gebiet "Freiraum- und Landschaftsplanung". Mit ihr erhöht sich die Zahl der Professorinnen an der FH Erfurt auf 27 (>20%).
Frau Gstach studierte Landschaftsplanung in Wien und Manchester. Neben ihrer praktischen Tätigkeit in einem Wiener Landschaftsarchitekturbüro übernahm sie Lehraufträge an der TU Wien. Am Institut für Strukturplanung und Regionalentwicklung IRS in Erkner arbeitete sie an einem EU Forschungsprojekt zur nachhaltigen Weiterentwicklung von Großwohnsiedlungen in Europa. Ihre Promotion zum Thema Zwischennutzungen verfasste Frau Gstach im Rahmen ihrer Tätigkeit als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Universität Kassel. Die vergangenen drei Jahre lehrte und forschte sie als Assistant Professor an der Clemson University in den USA.
