International Conference at Speyer University

Dr. Klauspeter Strohm Referat für Information und Kommunikation
Deutsche Universität für Verwaltungswissenschaften Speyer

On 19 and 20 July 2012 the German Research Institute for Public Administration (GRIP) Speyer along with its international partner the School for Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) of Indiana University (USA) will jointly host an international conference on “Converging and Conflicting Trends in the Public Administration of the US, Europe, and Germany”.

This conference represents the culmination of the ever increasing partnership between GRIP and SPEA, as well as the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer. The conference gathers approximately one hundred scholars from across Europe and the United States as well countries further afield, including Israel, Russia, and South Korea. About 50 academic papers will be presented in 16 thematic panels ranging across the discipline of public administration. In addition, two key note speeches will be delivered, one by the President of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences, Professor Pan Suk Kim (South Korea), and another by the former US Ambassador to the European Union, C. Boyden Gray. The conference participants will also attend a formal dinner at Hambach Castle during which the Pro-rector of the German University of Administrative Sciences, Professor Stefan Fisch, will speak to them about the Hambach Rally of 1832 and the relationship between former and contemporary protest movements in Europe. The conference will conclude with a roundtable discussion that includes some of the internationally most eminent scholars of public administration and political science. The best papers will be published as a book.
