Nach der Wahl des Mathematikprofessors Willi Freeden zum Vizepräsidenten der Universität Kaiserslautern, hat der Fachbereich Mathematik Professor Eberhard Schock zum neuen Dekan gewählt. Der 63-jährige Hochschullehrer studierte in Bonn und Hamburg, legte seine Promotion mit 27 Jahren und seine Habilitation mit 31 Jahren in Bonn erfolgreich ab. Seit 1974 ist er ordentlicher Professor an der Universität Kaiserslautern und lehrt in seinem Arbeitsgebiet Funktionalanalysis und Numerische Mathematik. Professor Eberhard Schock war schon einmal von 1977 bis 1979 Dekan dieses Fachbereiches.
