Prof. Dr. Dirk Loomans (* 1966) ist seit 2011 Professor für Wirtschaftsinformatik am Fachbereich Wirtschaft der Fachhochschule Mainz (Rheinland-Pfalz). Der Diplom-Physiker verfügt über eine große Praxiserfahrung in der Wirtschaft, die er u.a. als Leiter Informationssicherheit bei der Infineon Technologies AG begründete. In dieser Position zeichnete er sich für das gesamte Informationssicherheitsmanagement des internationalen Halbleiterherstellers verantwortlich.
Im Jahr 2001 machte er sich mit seinem eigenen Beratungsunternehmen selbstständig. Seit 2006 als Lehrbeauftragter an der Fachhochschule Mainz tätig, übernahm Loomans zum September 2011 eine Professur für Wirtschaftsinformatik am Fachbereich Wirtschaft. Zusätzlich leitet er Seminare der TÜV Rheinland Akademie zum Themenbereich Informationssicherheit.
Auf internationaler Ebene engagiert sich Dirk Loomans in verantwortlicher Position im Information Security Forum (ISF), eines der renommiertesten und mitgliederstärksten Gremien im Bereich Informationssicherheit. Auf nationaler Ebene stellt er als Professor für Wirtschaftsinformatik seine Expertise Wirtschaftsverbänden und Mitgliedern des Bundestags zur Verfügung. Für Fachpublikationen, Print- und Rundfunkmedien stand er bereits mehrfach als Ansprechpartner zu verschiedenen Schwerpunktthemen wie z.B. Cloud Computing bereit.
