Professor Detlef Zühlke vom Fachbereich Maschinenbau und Verfahrenstechnik der Universität Kaiserslautern wurde anlässlich des Weltkongresses der International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) in Barcelona zum Chairman des Technical Committee on Human-Machine-Systems gewählt. Der IFAC ist der Weltverband der Automatisierungstechnik.
Der 52-jährige Hochschullehrer studierte Elektrotechnik und technische Informatik an der RWTH Aachen und promovierte 1983 am Werkzeugmaschinenlabor der RWTH über Roboterprogrammierung. Danach leitete er mehrere Jahre bei der Deutschen Lufthansa AG in Frankfurt verschiedene Projekte zur Automatisierung in der Flugzeuginstandhaltung.
1991 wurde er als Professor auf den Lehrstuhl für Produktionsautomatisierung an der Universität Kaiserslautern berufen. Im Jahre 1993 erfolgte die Berufung in die Leitung des Zentrums für Produktionstechnik und 1998 gründete Detlef Zühlke das Zentrum für Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion an der Universität Kaiserslautern. Professor Detlef Zühlke ist seit 1996 Mitglied des Vorstandes der VDI/VDE-Gesellschaft für Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik.
