Vom 21.-24. Juni 2003 findet das 4. Internationale Symposium "Laser Precision Microfabrication - LPM 2003" in München statt. LPM 2003 ist organisiert im Rahmen der Konferenz "Laser in der Produktion", die von der Wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft Lasertechnik e.V. WLT ausgerichtet wird. Die Beiträge auf der LPM 2003 berichten ausführlich über Fortschritte im Bereich der Lasertechnik und ihre Anwendungen in Präzisionsbearbeitung. Alle Forschungsinstitute und -abteilungen, die in der Entwicklung von laserbasierten Mikroproduktionstechniken aktiv sind, sind hiermit eingeladen, sich an der Konferenz aktiv zu beteiligen.
Sowohl Vorträge als auch eine Posterausstellung bieten den Teilnehmern eine Vielfalt an Informationen über neueste Entwicklungen in diesem Gebiet. Eine anschließende Dokumentation des Symposiums wird durch SPIE stattfinden.
Das Symposium läuft fast parallel zur weltgrößten Laser- und Optikmesse "Laser 2003: World of Photonics", die vom 23.-26.Juni 2003 auf dem neuen Messegelände in München stattfindet. Somit haben die Symposiumteilnehmer auch die Möglichkeit, diese wichtige Lasermesse zu besuchen.
Eine zweite Ankündigung sowie ein Call for Papers, mitsamt Anmeldungs- und Hotelinformationen werden im Herbst dieses Jahres erscheinen.

Press Release: Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication LPM 2003
From June 21st to 24th, the fourth international symposium "Laser Precision Microfabrication-LPM 2003" will take place in Munich, Germany. The symposium is part of the congress "Lasers in Manufacturing" which is organized by the German Scientific Community of Laser Technology WLT. LPM 2003 focuses on reporting and discussing progress in the field of lasers and their applications in precision microfabrication. We would like to invite all research institutes and departments which are active in the development of laser-based microfabrication techniques to participate in this conference.
Invited papers as well as oral and poster contributions will be presented. The proceedings of the symposium will be published by SPIE.
The symposium will take place in Munich, Germany, where one of the largest international trade shows in lasers and optics "Laser 2003: World of Photonics" will take place from 23-26 June 2003 on the New Trade Fair Munich.
A second announcement including a call-for-papers, registration and accommodation details for the meeting will be sent out in the autumn of 2002.
