Anlässlich der Pensionierung von Professor Dr. Horst-Günter Zimmer findet an der Universität des Saarlandes am 25. und 26. Oktober ein Festkolloquium statt. Professor Zimmer lehrt seit 28 Jahren an der Saar-Uni und beschäftigt sich besonders mit experimenteller algebraischer Zahlentheorie und Softwareentwicklung.
Professor Dr. Horst-Günter Zimmer,
* 30.6.1937 in Lübeck.
Fach: Mathematik.
Werdegang: 1963-1967 Wissenschaftlicher Assistent an der Universität Tübingen; 1966 Promotion. 1967-1969 Assistenz-Professor für Mathematik an der Ohio State University of California, Los Angeles (USA). 1970-1974 Akademischer Rat für Mathematik an der Universität Karlsruhe; 1972 Habilitation und Verleihung der Venia legendi. Seit 1974 Professor an der UdS.
Arbeitsschwerpunkte: Experimentelle algebraische Zahlentheorie und arithmetische Geometrie, insbesondere elliptische Kurven, Krypto-graphie, Softwareentwicklung.
