Max-Planck-Experte warnt: Algen-Düngung mit Eisen hätte gravierende Nebenwirkungen auf die Atmosphäre und das Klima
Würde man das Phytoplankton im Ozean mit Eisen düngen, um das Übermaß an Kohlendioxid in der Atmosphäre abzubauen, hätte das beträchtliche und unvorhersehbare Folgen für das Klima und die chemische Zusammensetzung der Atmosphäre, belegt der Atmosphärenforscher Mark Lawrence, Leiter einer Nachwuchsgruppe am Max-Planck-Institut für Chemie in Mainz, in der internationalen Fachzeitschrift "Science" (Science, 20. September 2002).
