Europa startet aufregende Weltraummission "Rosetta" zum Kometen "Wirtanen" / Drei Max-Planck-Institute beteiligt / Pressekonferenz am 5. Dezember
Mitte Januar kommenden Jahres startet Europa seine bisher spannendste Weltraummission: "Rosetta". Nach mehr als acht Jahre dauerndem Flug soll die Raumsonde den Kometen "Wirtanen" erreichen und schließlich im Sommer 2012 ein Landegerät sanft auf seinem Kern absetzen. Wissenschaftler aus 14 europäischen Nationen sowie Forscher aus Kanada, USA und Australien sind ebenso wie die drei Max-Planck-Institute für Aeronomie (MPAe in Katlenburg-Lindau), Chemie (Mainz) und extraterrestrische Physik (Garching) an dem außergewöhnlichen Unternehmen beteiligt.
