Internationale Vergleichbarkeit von wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Master Abschlüssen. Die Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education QAA unterscheidet Type 1: Specialist Masters degrees, Type 2: Generalist (career entry) Masters degrees und Type 3: MBA type degrees.
Bei der FIBAA ist die Studie "Academic Standards, Master's awards in business and management" der Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education QAA erhältlich, in dem es um die zukünftige Gestaltung von wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Master Abschlüssen in Großbritannien geht. Das Dokument kann bei der FIBAA oder bei der QAA als PDF Datei http://www.qaa.ac.uk/crntwork/benchmark/mast/MBA.htm angefordert werden. Es wird unterschieden nach Type 1: Specialist Masters degrees, Type 2: Generalist (career entry) Masters degrees und Type 3: MBA type degrees.
Type 1 Specialist
A Specialist (career entry)
Career preparation, Recent graduates but MSc or MA in, Marketing, or some mature entry students International Business, or Cognate first degree (normally) Business Studies In-depth study of one area (Information Management). Theory plus dissertation/project MRes (in B and M area)Research or professional orientation
B Specialist (career development)
Further career development, usually MSc or MA in HRM while in employment or Marketing, etc. Cognate first degree (normally) (including those linked to or experience Professional institute Study of practice in specialist area qualifications) Professional orientation.
Type 2 Generalist (career entry)
Pre-experience, career preparation MSc or MA in Management, Recent graduates but some mature or Business Studies, entry students or International Business First degree in any discipline or Marketing/Public Sector/General B and M subjects Strategic Management Possible (minor) specialism or focus More theoretical approach but with emphasis on theory into practice.
Type 3 MBA type (career development)
Post-experience (minimum 2 years) MBA or MBA (Health or Career change or acceleration other Sector Management), Mature entry students MSc Strategic Management First degree in any discipline General B and M subjects but with strategic and integrated focus Professional (practical) orientation.
