Dr. Roland Mayer, emeritierter Professor für Organische Chemie, wurde am 10. Juni 1998 mit der Verdienstmedaille der Karls-Universität Prag ausgezeichnet, die sie anläßlich ihres 650-jährigen Bestehens an ausländische Wissenschaftler vergeben hat.
Die Prager Universität würdigt mit der Medaille Mayers mehr als 15-jährige wissenschaftliche Zusammenarbeit mit der dortigen Pharmazeutischen Fakultät auf dem Gebiet der Arzneimittelsynthese, insbesondere bei der Entwicklung von Antituberkulosemitteln.
