Unmittelbar vor Studienbeginn bieten die Fachrichtungen Mathematik, Physik und Chemie der TU Dresden für Studienanfänger der Ingenieur- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften, der Medizin, der Pädagogik etc. Brückenkurse für Mathematik, Physik sowie für Chemie an.
In mehreren "Trainingseinheiten", das heißt in Vorlesungen und vor allem in Übungen und Seminaren, werden in hochschultypischer Form Schulkenntnisse aufgefrischt. Zugleich wird eine Einstimmung auf das beginnende Studium gegeben.
