Anmeldeschluss für erste Weltkonferenz zur Vorbereitung der Weltraum-Missionen "DARWIN" und "Terrestrial Planet Finder" (TPF)
Zwei extrem anspruchsvolle Weltraum-Missionen, "DARWIN" (ESA) und "Terrestrial Planet Finder" (NASA), sollen zur Suche nach extrasolaren Planeten im Jahr 2014 starten. Dazu findet vom 22. bis 25. April 2003 in Heidelberg die erste internationale Vorbereitungskonferenz statt. Prominente Wissenschaftler und Raumfahrtexperten werden daran teilnehmen, darunter Prof. Steven Beckwith (Baltimore), Direktor des Space Telescope Science Institute, Prof. Michel Mayor (Genf), Entdecker des ersten extrasolaren Planeten, und Prof. Jill Tarter (Mountain View, USA), Direktorin des SETI Research Institute (vgl. PRI SP 2 / 2003 (20) vom 24. Februar 2003).
