Am 9. Dezember 2014 hat der Vorstand der Stiftung WHU Professor Markus Rudolf mit Wirkung zum 1. Januar 2015 zum Rektor der WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management bestellt. Rudolf löst Professor Michael Frenkel ab, der dieses Amt seit 2005 innehatte.
Der Vorsitzende der Stiftung, Dr. Gianfranco Antonio Calabretti, dankte Michael Frenkel und würdigte dessen erfolgreiche Arbeit als Rektor. Er hob insbesondere den erfolgreichen Wachstumskurs der Hochschule, deren Positionierung als eine der ersten Adressen unter den europäischen Business Schools sowie den Auf- und Ausbau des zweiten Hochschulstandortes Düsseldorf hervor.
„Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Michael Frenkel der WHU erhalten bleibt und die Internationalisierung der Hochschule weiterhin vorantreiben wird“, sagte Calabretti. Michael Frenkel war von 1996 bis 1998 und zuletzt seit 2005 durchgehend Rektor der Hochschule.
Der Stiftungsvorstand hat gleichzeitig dem neuen Rektor, Markus Rudolf, seine besten Wünsche zur erfolgreichen Weiterentwicklung der Hochschule mit auf den Weg gegeben. Rudolf war bisher Prorektor der WHU und ist seit 1998 Ordinarius und Inhaber des Allianz Stiftungslehrstuhls für Finanzwirtschaft an der WHU. Außerdem ist er Leiter des WHU Centers of Asset and Wealth Management. Zuvor promovierte er und habilitierte sich an der Universität St. Gallen.
