Medical Technologies made in Germany: IVAM presents a joint booth at HOSPITALAR in São Paulo

Mona Okroy-Hellweg Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
IVAM Fachverband für Mikrotechnik

From May 19-22, 2015 the international medical trade fair HOSPITALAR will take place in São Paulo. For the first time at HOSPITALAR, IVAM offers a joint booth, which is placed in the direct vicinity to a new, concentrated area for component manufacturers, which is comparable to the established medical device supplier fair COMPAMED in Dusseldorf.

The exhibitors of the IVAM Product Market at HOSPITALAR at the Expo Center Norte, Green Hall, booth H1 93, 95, 97 present materials and components for medical devices as well as complete systems for point-of-care diagnostics.

EZM Edelstahlzieherei Mark GmbH is an international manufacturer of semi-finished products for medical applications. The range of available materials is comprehensive and tailored to the high quality demands imposed on medical applications. The materials supplied include stainless steels, titanium alloys, pure titanium and special alloys. The company offers wires, bares, profiles, flats, strips, sheets and plates. In addition to production order, EZM is also able to offer materials from stock.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS develops smart integrated systems combining electronic components with nano and micro sensors as well as actuators, power sources and communication units. At the exhibition, Fraunhofer ENAS shows devices for wireless energy transmission. The institute also introduces research results of the European-Brazilian project PodiTrodi to the development of an all-integrated microfluidic platform for the parallel protein and nucleic acid based detection of tropical diseases.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT presents a biochip platform for point-of-dare diagnostics at HOSPITALAR. The Institute researches and manufactures components and systems in microelectronics and microsystems technology. The department Biotechnical Microsystems develops portable multi-parameter analysis systems for point-of-care diagnostics. Automated analysis of 2 µl microliter blood samples run in a microfluidic disposable cartridge and realize different immunological tests within 15 minutes.

Zapp Precision Metals GmbH, MEDICAL ALLOYS, is a global supplier of semi-finished products for medical and dental applications. Specialties are thin CoCr bars and wires used for critical applications like implants for spine and dental wire. Further core competences are stainless steel and titanium wires and bars. The bars show tightest tolerances, best straightness and optimal roundness combined with an excellent surface. They are typically used for screws and turning parts for implants.

At the complementary expert forum, IVAM will organize a session on "German high tech for Medical Devices" in cooperation with NRW.International. Within this session, German medical technology companies and institutes are going to present their products and technologies to the Latin-American audience.

Brazil is one of the emerging BRICS countries with strong economic growth and rising prosperity. Rising wages and an increasing willingness to spend money for private health care make the health care sector a growing industry. The import of medical devices has annually increased up to 30% in recent years, and is, for example in the state of São Paulo, supported by the government with the suspension of import duties for medical technology products. Free trade agreements, such as the currently discussed agreement Mercosul between the EU and South America, will help to eliminate these barriers entirely.

All these developments have led to a growing number of international exhibitors and international visitors at HOSPITALAR. 2015, 1250 international exhibitors are expected at the most important and largest medical trade fair in Latin America. In 2014, the exhibition attracted 91,000 visitors from 63 countries.

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
