Bayreuth (UBT). Nach seiner Karriere als Studiomusiker begann der Berliner Perkussionist Steven Garling Ende der 90er Jahre mit Vertonungen von Stummfilmen im Rahmen von Live Performances, die, wie zuletzt im Berliner Kulturforum am Potsdamerplatz, zu enthusiastischen Pressekritiken führten. Im Theatersaal der Universität Bayreuth wird Garling am Freitag (16. Mai, 20.00 Uhr) den 1931 entstandenen Stummfilmklassiker "Tabu" von Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau zu Gehör bringen. Inszeniert als fiktive Liebesgeschichte auf der polynesischen Insel Bora Bora, webt Garling die Handlung in ein Klangmuster, dessen Töne mit der suggestiven Kraft der Bilder verschmelzen. Der Unkostenbeitrag beträgt 8 Euro.
