Phonetiker der Universität Jena wird in hochrangiges Fachgremium gewählt
Prof. Dr. Adrian P. Simpson von der Universität Jena ist zum Vizepräsidenten der International Phonetic Association (IPA) gewählt worden. Zudem leitet der Professor für Sprechwissenschaft den Permanent Council of the International Congress of Phonetic Sciences als Präsident. „Es ist eine große Ehre für mich, eine solche Verantwortung übertragen zu bekommen“, sagt Simpson. In beide Ehrenämter wurde der 53-jährige Wissenschaftler für vier Jahre berufen.
Die International Phonetic Association ist der älteste Fachverband für Phonetiker, sie wurde 1886 in Paris gegründet. Heute ist sie die bedeutendste und größte Vereinigung von Phonetikern weltweit. Alle vier Jahre treffen sich Phonetiker aus der ganzen Welt zum International Congress of Phonetic Sciences. Dieser Kongress wird seit 1932 an verschiedenen Orten der Welt ausgetragen. Die nächste Auflage ist 2019 in Melbourne geplant. Prof. Simpson von der Universität Jena wird als Präsident des Councils maßgeblich den Kongress im Jahr 2023 vorbereiten.
