In the winter semester of 2015/2016, the number of students who enrolled at German institutions of higher education has been higher than ever before. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports on the basis of first provisional results that the number of students at German institutions of higher education amounts to roughly 2,759,000 in the current winter semester. Hence the number of students has increased by 60,400 (+2.2%) as compared with the winter semester of 2014/2015.
