Studium von 3000 Satellitengalaxien aus dem "Sloan Digital Sky Survey" bestätigt kosmologische Theorie
Fast die gesamte Masse des Universums liegt im Verborgenen: 70 Prozent stecken in der Dunklen Energie sowie in vielfältigen Formen der Strahlung und weitere 27 Prozent in der so genannten Dunklen Materie. Eine neue Untersuchung mit Daten aus dem Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) liefert das bisher stärkste Argument zugunsten der Annahme, dass Galaxien in den Zentren riesiger Ansammlungen Dunkler Materie "schwimmen", die bis zu 50-mal mehr Masse enthalten als die Galaxien selbst. Dr. Francisco Prada, Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie in Heidelberg und Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, hat die Studie seiner Gruppe nun auf einer Konferenz im spanischen La Palma vorgestellt.
