The „Association of European Schools of Planning“ (AESOP) has honoured the Master’s programme in Urban Planning offered by the HafenCity University Hamburg with the AESOP certificate of quality.
ASEOP president Francesco Lo Piccolo states that the study programme fulfils the European quality standards of planning programmes according to the AESOP Charter, complemented by an effective internationalisation of teaching and learning processes.
The Dean of Urban Planning, Professor Jörg Knieling emphasises that internationalisation is an important sign of quality for the Master’s programme. “The HCU already offers very attractive conditions for international students and scientists. Together with our committed International Office the Urban Planning study programme optimises its quality continuously. Along the way, the AESOP assessment gives us important stimuli for further improvement.”
AESOP is a network of European universities, their departments and affiliated schools that are engaged in teaching and research in the fields of urban and regional planning. Since its foundation in the year 1987 AESOP supports the development and cooperation in the fields.
About HCU:
HafenCity University (HCU) was founded in 2006 as a fusion of three universities and colleges in Hamburg. As a university of the Built Environment and Metropolitan Development the HCU combines all aspects of construction with respect to planning and design, engineering and natural sciences as well as cultural and social sciences. All disciplines are consequently brought together in an interdisciplinary and integrated manner. In 2014 the HCU moved into its new building in Hamburg’s HafenCity and thus created the foundations of interdisciplinary research and teaching with a high practical relevance. Today, 2.400 students and 450 employees work together in the HafenCity, a special location in Europe’s largest inner-city development project.
