Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Nebel, OFFIS-Vorstandsvorsitzender und Hochschullehrer am Department für Informatik der Universität Oldenburg, wurde heute mit hochkarätigen Auszeichnungen des Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) geehrt
Vom IEEE Council on EDA (IEEE CEDA) erhielt er den „Outstanding Service Award“ sowie vom IEEE Computer Society Test Technology Technical Council (IEEE CS TTTC) den „Outstanding Contribution Award". Der Oldenburger Informatiker wurde damit für seine besonderen Verdienste für das IEEE ausgezeichnet. Der internationale Berufsverband mit Sitz in New York hat Nebel die Auszeichnung bei der Eröffnung der Design, Automation and Test in Europe Konferenz (DATE) in Dresden verliehen.
Das IEEE ist der weltweit größte Berufsverband von IngenieurInnen der Elektrotechnik und Informatik. Mit 385.000 Mitgliedern in 160 Ländern hat er auf internationaler Ebene die Meinungsführerschaft bei einem breiten Spektrum von Themen: von der Luft- und Raumfahrt, über Computer und Telekommunikation bis hin zu Ingenieursthemen in Biomedizin, Energieversorgung und Konsumelektronik.
