A total of 1,627 scientists completed their post-doctoral lecturing qualifications (habilitations) at universities in Germany in 2015.
The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that while the number of habilitations remained unchanged from the preceding year, the number of women who obtained such qualification rose by 2% to 462. This means that habilitations completed by women accounted for 28% of all habilitations. In 2005, their share had been 23%.
