Das Symposium "House of Memories – Queer and Postcolonial Approaches to the Past“, das am 11. und 12. Januar in Glasmoog an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (KHM) auf Initiative von Anja Michaelsen (Ruhr-Universität Bochum) und Karin Michalski (Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln) stattfindet, thematisiert queere und postkoloniale Ansätze bei der gegenseitigen Beeinflussung von kulturwissenschaftlicher Erinnerungsforschung und künstlerischem Arbeiten.
Theoretiker_innen der Literatur-, Medienwissenschaft und der Cultural Studies sowie bildenden Künstler_innen diskutieren mit Studierenden und Gästen über das Verhältnis von kollektiven Gewaltereignissen und Erinnerungskulturen – gefasst in der räumlichen Metapher des „Erinnerungshauses".

The transdisciplinary Symposium at KHM on 11th and 12th of January, initialized of Anja Michaelsen (Ruhr-Universität Bochum) and Karin Michalski (KHM) focusses on what constitutes our Houses of Memories.
Memory hindered in severe ways foremost raises methodological questions – how do we approach memory that is not sufficiently socially and politically supported, but elusive in its materializations (as bodily traces, affective settings, landscapes devoid of obvious meaning, or lack of authorship and story telling)?
