(pug) Around the world, scholars are persecuted because of their research and ideas, threatened and restricted in their work. The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Göttingen has set up a fellowship fund of 45,000 euros for threatened scholars and PhD students. The faculty is now offering short-term scholarships for a period between four weeks and three months as well as fellowships for a period of twelve months as bridging grants.
Researchers applying for such a scholarship need to provide confirmation of the pertinent threat either in the context of an asylum-granting procedure or by way of a credible threat assessment from a third party, such as the Scholars at Risk network, the Scholar Rescue Fund or the Council for At-Risk Academics. Deadline for the first round of scholarships is December 31, 2017.
