The German-Japanese cooperation should increase joint research and knowledge transfer for both sides

IHP – Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics and the Japanese University of Nagoya have contractually confirmed this week their existing cooperation. The agreement foresees that, in addition to the academic exchange of knowledge and staff, joint research projects will be initiated and further activities will be pursued that are in the mutual interest of both parties. "We are very pleased about this cooperation, which is very important for the transfer of knowledge and the research on both sides", says Prof. Dr. Bernd Tillack, Scientific Director of IHP.
Last year, PhD student Viktoria Schlykow from IHP got to know the renowned Institute for Materials and Systems for Sustainability at the University of Nagoya during a three-month study visit and was thrilled: "It was an exciting experience to talk to experts in my research field and thus to deepen my knowledge." Now this experience can make up to five students a year.
Nagoya State University was founded in 1871 and is located in the fourth-largest city in Japan, Nagoya, which has over two million inhabitants. Since 1940, the university has a faculty of science and engineering. Graduates of the university include, for example, Toshihide Masukawa and Makoto Kobayashi, who received the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics.
