ESMT Berlin has recently issued its R&D Annual Report 2017, demonstrating the high-quality research output of the international business school. In 2017, ESMT faculty welcomed Henry Sauermann as an associate professor of strategy. Formerly of the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology, he is the first holder of the POK Pühringer PS Chair in Entrepreneurship.

ESMT founded the Hidden Champions Institute (HCI), the first of its kind. The institute promotes practical research, executive education, and discourse around topics of importance to hidden champions.

Helping to stimulate intellectual exchange, ESMT held six conferences and 28 research seminars, at which scholars from ESMT and other universities presented their research. The school also hosted 10 open lectures with opinion leaders from both academia and industry. ESMT’s centers and institutes organized 29 additional events.
