SlideWiki competition #OECWC2018 launched

Dr. Sandra Niemeyer Kommunikation und Marketing
Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB)

Take part: create open educational resources, post them on the presentation platform SlideWiki and win up to €1,000

HANNOVER, 26 March 2018 – Presentations are now part of everyday life, whether at school, university or in the workplace. The SlideWiki platform gives users the opportunity to create, amend, update, change and discover presentations, especially open educational resources (OER), whether independently or collaboratively. The EU-funded project SlideWiki, involving 17 national and international partners, is established at the “Data Science & Open Knowledge” joint lab run by the Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) – German National Library of Science and Technology – and L3S Research Center.

    Post new content and win

The SlideWiki competition #OECWC2018 launched recently by the SlideWiki consortium invites academics, teaching staff, and learners with disabilities to publish high-quality educational content on the presentation platform. “Participants are invited to create reusable, multilingual material in the four categories – school education, vocational education, higher education and/or open educational resources – on a crowdsourcing basis,” explained Professor Dr. Sören Auer, SlideWiki coordinator and Director of TIB, summarising the requirements for entering the competition.

€500 in prize money will be awarded to the five teams of participants judged by the jury as the best in their respective category that meet the standard requirements concerning content/slides quality. Since the emphasis is on quality and quantity, teams that impress the jury by creating a considerable amount of high-quality content, i.e. more than 200 slides, will be awarded double prize money ‒ €1,000 each.

Closing date for entry: 1 October 2018

1 October 2018 is the closing date for entries to the SlideWiki competition #OECWC2018. The winning teams will be announced in November 2018.

    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
