Major Project: The New Silk Road

    Since 2014, one section of the New Silk Road rail route has directly connected Chongqing in central China with the city of Duisburg in the heart of Europe. What is the significance of this major project for Sino-European cooperation? On 11 October 2018, representatives of academia, politics and industry will come together at the Fourth International Forum in Duisburg to explore this issue.

    The Confucius Institute Metropolis Ruhr and the Institute of East Asian Studies (IN-EAST) at the University of Duisburg-Essen are expecting a large number of international guests to attend the event, which is co-organized by Fudan University and the China Center for Contemporary World Studies. The Forum will be opened by H.E. Bolat Nussupov, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Germany.

    The panel discussion will take place at the Intercity Hotel, Mercatorstraße 57, Duisburg, at 2.30 p.m. and is open to the public. Please register by email by Friday, October 5: konfuzius-institut@uni-due.de or telephone:

    Panellists will include.
