Im Rahmen des Fulbright-Programms unterrichtet und forscht die Professorin Tracy J. Boisseau im akademischen Jahr 2003/04 an der Universität Bayreuth. Die US-Professorin ist Spezialistin für Kulturgeschichte und Frauenstudien.
Bayreuth (UBT) Im Rahmen des Fulbright-Programms unterrichtet und forscht die Professorin Tracy J. Boisseau im akademischen Jahr 2003/04 an der Universität Bayreuth. Sie ist Professorin für Kulturgeschichte und "Women's Studies" an der University of Akron, Ohio. Ihre Forschungsgebiete umfassen Sozial- und Kulturgeschichte der USA, Afro-Amerikanische Geschichte und Literatur, Women's History und feministische Theorie.
In ihrem Buch White Queen: May French Seldon and the Origins of American Feminist Identity (Indiana UP, 2004) untersucht sie Konstruktionen weiblicher Identität sowie Fragen von Alterität und Ethnizität im Leben und Werk von May French Seldon, einer weißen Amerikanerin, die 1891 eine Expedition in die Kilimandscharo-Region Ostafrikas leitete.
In diesem Semester bietet Prof. Boisseau die Seminare "African-American Women's Autobiography" und "Pop Culture in Modern America, 1850-1950" an.
