The Circle Foundation and the University of Bayreuth held 'Learning 5.0' workshop in Germany on June 28/29 2019.The aim is the development of an innovative youth education program to foster future-oriented competencies, cultivating creativity, global competence, and artificial intelligence capacities in junior high students.

The Circle Foundation (formerly Ahn Cheol-Soo Foundation) in Korea and the University of Bayreuth recently held a workshop on the 'Learning 5.0' project. It was organized by the German 'F/L Think Tank' and took place at the Bayreuth Campus on June 28 and 29. The 'Learning 5.0' project focuses on developing participatory classes that enable young students at schools from various countries to understand the potential of artificial intelligence. The first project design stage is developing the IT and organizational framework and will be completed by the end of September this year, with the support of the Circle Foundation agreed on June 3. This workshop has assessed the design progress and coordinated the direction of the project in the future. It was attended by 17 experts from Germany, Korea and other countries.

According to the foundation, the 'Learning 5.0 Project' emerged when Dr. Cheol-Soo Ahn, visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich, participated at a colloquium on “The World in 2029”. He shared the vision of professor Volker Deville, head of F/L Think Tank, and professor Stefan Leible, president of the University of Bayreuth, of an innovative education program for future generations and recommended it to Sung-Ho Choi, Chairman of the Circle Foundation and professor of Kyonggi University in Seoul.

Founded in 1975, the University of Bayreuth is currently one of Germany's most successful young universities. The University of Bayreuth has around 13,500 students, 239 professors and 2,200 other academic and non-academic staff.

The Circle Foundation, which is one of the leading non-profit innovation-oriented organizations, was founded by Dr. Ahn in Korea in 2012 and pursues a vision of solving critical social problems and creating a virtuous cycle of opportunities through the promotion of education, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The F/L Think Tank eG was founded as a charity cooperative in Munich in 2017, and focuses on international research into the future of living. The University of Bayreuth, located in northern Bavaria, has always reacted flexibly to social changes and the related demands on science and business by creating innovative, interdisciplinary programmes. With around 13,500 students, the University of Bayreuth is a comfortable size, and its students and instructors get to know each other more quickly thanks to the University’s unique campus. This promotes interdisciplinary thinking and cooperative relations, which is indeed reflected in a large number of interdisciplinary courses of study.
