The fourth Culinary and Wine Tourism Conference, which will take place from March 9 to 12, 2020 at Hochschule Geisenheim University, provides an international audience from the fields of science and industry with the opportunity to discuss current research work. Hochschule Geisenheim University is organizing the event in cooperation with the Wine Tourism and Culinary Commission of the German Society for Tourism Science e.V. (DGT), IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, FH Wien der WKW – University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication, Harz University of Applied Sciences and the German Oenological Federation e.V. (BDO).

The main event is the conference on international tourism, culinary and wine expertise on March 10 and 11, 2020, which will be launched by Professor Hans Reiner Schultz, President of Hochschule Geisenheim University. A total of 27 scientific experts from 15 countries will present their research over the two days. The presentations given in English address the various aspects of linking the tourist experience with culinary occasions, with a special focus on the enjoyment of wine. Topics include marketing, appealing to target groups on an emotional level, wine tourism as an option for people of different ages and backgrounds, and integrating the local catering industry. A guided tour of Schloss Johannisberg, followed by a dinner in the evening of March 10, 2020, will serve as an additional opportunity for the participants to exchange their ideas and experience.

The accompanying program includes the Second Rheingau Conference on March 9, 2020, which Rheingau-Taunus Kultur und Tourismus GmbH, Rheingauer Weinwerbung GmbH and Zweckverband Rheingau have organized under the title of “Erster Eindruck, letzter Eindruck – der Gast im Fokus” (first impression, last impression – focus on guests). To conclude the fourth Culinary and Wine Tourism Conference, the BDO is organizing an excursion on March 12, 2020 to showcase regional flagship projects.

The organization is being carried out by Geisenheim Institute of Continuing Education, as a facility of Hochschule Geisenheim University.
