In the 2020 CHE Ranking 2020, the University of Bayreuth once again positions itself in the top group of universities in Germany. The Law, Business Administration, Economics, and Business Administration & Engineering courses of study consistently achieve excellent ratings. The Germany-wide comparison published today confirms the unchallenged top position of these study programmes at the University of Bayreuth.
"This year's CHE ranking confirms the top position of the Law, Business & Economics courses of study, which we have established in Bayreuth with great success. In view of the changing challenges in business, politics, and society, we will continue to develop these courses of study in the future in an interdisciplinary manner and at the highest level. Our students can therefore rely on excellent career prospects being open to them on the German and international job market", explains Prof Dr. Jörg Gundel, Dean of the Faculty of Law Business & Economics.
The CHE ranking is based primarily on detailed surveys of students. The study of law at the University of Bayreuth achieves top positions in all individual criteria included in the overall ranking - something that only rarely occurs in university rankings. For example, the general study environment, personal support, the range of courses offered, stays abroad, IT infrastructure, academic relevance, and career orientation are highly appreciated by students. In Bayreuth, the study of law can be combined with additional training in economics or technology, which is unique in Germany, or interdisciplinary additional studies in Computer Science & Digitalization. These options are embraced by most law students, and are often a key factor in deciding to study in Bayreuth.
The University of Bayreuth’s Business Administration, Economics, and Business Administration & Engineering courses of study also received excellent marks. The general study environment, the range of courses on offer, the academic relevance, and the professional orientation are top of the list nationwide. With regard to personal mentoring, support during studies, study organization, and IT infrastructure, the subjects Business Administration and Business Administration & Engineering were also placed in the top flight nationwide. The CHE has not made a formal distinction between rank groups for the subject of economics in these additional criteria. But here, too, the economics department at the University of Bayreuth stands out with individual evaluations that have led to the top position in overall standings.
For many years, the University of Bayreuth has been a pioneer in the development of new business studies programs that are tailored to the specific professional and professional interests of students. In the 2020 CHE Ranking 2020, its top position is reinforced by health economics in the area of business administration, and in the area of economics by the degree programmes Philosophy & Economics, History & Economics, and International Economics & Development.
Regarding the excellent results of the University of Bayreuth in the CHE Ranking 2020, university president Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible explains: "As a comparatively small campus university, we have been consistently orienting ourselves towards the principle 'quality over quantity' for many years. Our law and economics courses place high professional demands on our students, but at the same time they offer them plenty of room for individual self-development and a family atmosphere on campus. A strong academic focus goes hand in hand with a practical orientation that prepares students for responsible professional positions. I am very pleased that the University of Bayreuth, as a result, occupies such an impressive top position in the CHE ranking."
