Bayreuth (UBT). Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geographie, der Dachverband der wissenschaftlichen Geographie in Deutschland, hat das Fach Geographie der Bayreuther Universität aufgefordert, den Deutschen Geographentag 2007 in Bayreuth auszurichten. Dieser größte nationale Kongress der Geographie findet in zweijährigem Turnus statt und zählt regelmäßig über 2.000 Teilnehmer. Er besteht aus einem Mammutprogramm an Fachsitzungen und zahlreichen Exkursionen in der Region des Tagungsortes. Die Ausrichtung haben die Bayreuther Geographen inzwischen zugesagt. Der Deutsche Geographentag wird Anfang Oktober 2007 in Bayreuth stattfinden.
