European alliance project simplifies access to digital innovation for Bavarian companies

Silvia Hervé Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit

fortiss has been a partner in the HUBCAP European alliance project since early 2020. The network serves as the central starting point for digital innovations using model-based design technologies for cyber-physical systems (CPS). The alliance also develops and promotes a sustainable network of experts for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and digital innovation hubs (DIH).

HUBCAP is creating and offering a shared collaboration platform for providers and users of cyber-physical system (CPS) models and model-based design (MBD) tools. The alliance is pursing the goal of streamlining access to modern MBD technologies, training and consulting services and all European DIHs specialized in CPS for small-to-medium enterprises down to the regional level. This three-year European project is built on the foundation of seven established DIHs in seven European countries. Each of these hubs is deeply embedded in their respective regional digital innovation ecosystems and offer expertise and specific knowledge related to fields of application in CPS engineering.

fortiss is primarily responsible for developing cooperation mechanisms within the HUBCAP hubs. By integrating and combining the individual DIH services into a complete solution, fortiss is making it possible for Bavarian companies to enjoy access to technologies, expertise, infrastructure and know-how, as well as finance and market opportunities across Europe. Among other things, HUBCAP provides financial assistance and implementation support for smaller innovation experiments via open calls.

Via the collaboration platform, the State of Bavaria research institute also offers SMEs the opportunity to create, analyze and validate new CPS-based products in a virtual environment by accessing various CPS assets (models, tools, services) and experimenting with new solutions. This approach is designed to reduce the risk of investments in capabilities or resources. fortiss also offers MBD services based on the AutoFOCUS 3 tool, which allows users to carry out experiments and utilize the capabilities of design space exploration.

    More information:
The HUBCAP project is being financed through the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. As a so-called innovation action, HUBCAP is part of the European Commission Smart Anything Everywhere (SAE) initiative, which since the beginning of 2020 has resulted in the launch of six new innovation actions that will run for at least 36 months. One of these six projects, HUBCAP has a €3 million equity-free fund that is available to SMEs for experimenting and innovating with CPS technologies.

The Software Dependability research division develops innovative approaches, algorithms and tools for the effective development of software used in verifiably dependable and safe cyber-physical systems (CPS). Effective and affordable methods for validating cyber-physical systems are a basic prerequisite for the successful utilization of autonomous and CPS-based products, such as those currently being designed and developed in the automobile (highly-automated driving), aerospace (autonomous air taxis) and industrial automation (adaptable factories) industries.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
