State Parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate Votes to Rename ZPID as the Leibniz Institute for Psychology

Leibniz-Zentrum für Psychologische Information und Dokumentation

Moving forward, the Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information will now be known as the Leibniz Institute for Psychology. The Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament approved this resolution on October 7, 2020. This change will take effect after its publication in the Rhineland-Palatinate Gazette of Law and Ordinances.

The new name "Leibniz Institute for Psychology" reflects the institute's ever-increasing range of tasks and services, its growing international reputation, and its long-term strategy.

ZPID director Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak: "The State Parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate thereby recognizes the strategic reorientation of the institute as a research-based universal provider of psychological infrastructure services that has taken place over the past three years. The employees and management of ZPID are extremely pleased to receive this esteemed endorsement from the state as reflected by the renaming. Furthermore, by changing its name, ZPID is supporting the umbrella brand strategy of the Leibniz Association, of which it is a founding member."

There will be no changes in the outward appearance of the institute because, among other things, the Internet domain https://www.leibniz-psychology.org already corresponds with its new name.

ZPID is committed to supporting all persons in search of psychological information (researchers, practicing psychologists, the interested public), for example, literature, research data, treatment studies, and in the near future, also summaries of important findings in psychology that are easy to understand by the general public. It is dedicated to promoting open science, a commitment that is reflected in the public's accessibility to and free use of its services.

ZPID is a public law institution of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and is a member of the Leibniz Association. It is located on the campus of the University of Trier and currently has more than 50 employees.
