Dr. Birgit Hufen, Absolventin des Fachbereichs Wirtschaft der Fachhochschule Bochum, hat Ende 2003 an der ASE Bukarest in Rumänien, einer Partnerhochschule der FH, zum "Dr. rer. pol." promoviert. Ihre Dissertation "Marketingstrategien der deutschen und rumänischen Stahlindustrie" wurde zudem von der Akademie der rumänischen Wissenschaften ausgezeichnet.
Im Rahmen einer Feierstunde Mitte März gratulierten Fachbereich und Dekan Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bock der jungen Akademikerin. Sie hat ihre Promotion parallel zu ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit bei Thyssen-Krupp angefertigt.
