The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides funding for the “International Research Experience@SRH” project. Involving collaboration with three other higher education institutions abroad and partners from the field, the project is another step towards SRH University Heidelberg becoming more international.
Research is to become a global experience: SRH University Heidelberg has developed the “International Research Experience @SRH” project in a bid to further promote the internationalisation of the university while at the same time encouraging students to embark on a career in science. The partner universities involved in the project are the University of Minho, the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and Clarkson University. The partner companies ProMinent GmbH and metris Architekten + Stadtplaner support the project in terms of content.
The project, which will initially be implemented in the model degree programmes of Architecture and Water Technology, is based on three elements: in the Research Event Series, Master’s students are invited to attend virtual events and workshops and to take part in a research-based project week. The second element involves establishing a Graduate Centre, which will pave the way for cooperative PhD programmes with partner universities abroad. Finally, the cooperation database will help to intensify the cooperation between the international partners from science and industry, and expand the network.
“The programme is about highlighting international career opportunities and opening up new career paths in academia,” stated Professor Dr. Carsten Diener, President of SRH University Heidelberg. Diener heads the international research project for which the DAAD will provide funding from 2022 to 2025. “Research becomes an international experience.“
