Mainz University is among the top 100 European universities
The latest U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings place Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) among the top 100 European universities. In addition, its Physics, Pharmacology/Toxicology und Immunology programs were lauded as among the top 100 worldwide.
Those results lifted Mainz University to rank 17 of 70 ranked German universities. JGU is thus among the top 100 European universities and among the best 13 percent of the 1,750 listed universities worldwide.
Mainz University also reached the national top 10 in three different subjects: it ranks 3rd in Pharmacology/Toxicology, 4th in Physics, and 8th in Immunology, placing JGU among the top 100 universities worldwide in those respective disciplines.
This year, JGU achieved particularly good marks in Immunology. The university claimed top 20 scores among the 250 ranked international universities for multiple assessment criteria: most-cited publications (11th), citations (9th), and regional research reputation (13th).
The U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings have been published annually by the U.S. News & World Report media company since 2014. The international rankings of universities are based on analyses of publication data on the Web of Science research platform as well as on academic reputation surveys.
