In 2022, Chileans will decide on a new constitution, which among many changes proposes a restructuring of the national congress. In an audio interview, hosted by the GIGA, journalist Evan Romero talks with Prof. Dr. Mariana Llanos and Ass. Prof. Dr. Christopher Martínez Nourdin to assess the impact of the potential amendments.
After the major social protests in Chile in 2019, a new, more inclusive, and fairer constitution came on the agenda for change. One of the proposals for a new constitution is to change the structure of the national congress, on which Chileans have been keenly debating in the last weeks.
In a new audio interview, journalist Evan Romero talks with GIGA expert Prof. Dr. Mariana Llanos and Ass. Prof. Dr. Christopher Martínez Nourdin from the Catholic University of Temuco in Chile about the impact of and expectations from the adoption of either a unicameral or a bicameral legislative structure: https://soundcloud.com/user-416150045/what-congress-for-chile-unicameralism-bica....
