The Zurich University of the Arts makes its digital annual report accessible for the first time

The Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is making its digital annual report accessible and invites you to an analogue exhibition at the Toni Campus. Students from the Department of Fine Arts have created works of art based on the annual report’s guiding topic, “attitude”. These will be exhibited from 11 to 14 April and can be bought in an online auction.

The guiding principle of ZHdK’s 2021 digital annual report is “attitude”. With a web publication, an exhibition and an auction, ZHdK is dedicating various platforms to the topic, featuring all manner of contributions and questions: How does sustainable filming work? What do female directing students have to say about institutional critique and the structural changes that are necessary in the theatre? What does “attitude” have to do with conducting? And what can a machine teach us about empathy? The ZHdK annual report provides answers to these questions: zhdk.ch/jahresbericht2021

Students get to grips with “attitude” in their art

Institutions need attitude, just like the individuals who represent them. 15 students from the ZHdK’s Department of Fine Arts have created images, objects and installations to illustrate how “attitude” can reveal itself in very different ways. Attitude resonates with personal stories of queerness and body image, it links up with anarcho-punk and Postmodernism, and it can combat online loneliness. These artworks will be exhibited at the Toni Campus from 11 to 14 April.

    “Attitude” for a good cause

Although attitude has no price tag (or perhaps precisely because of it), these 15 works of art will be auctioned off publicly. This online auction will be open to everyone. It begins at 8 a.m. on 11 April and ends at 8 p.m. on 14 April. The starting bid in each case is CHF 300. The auction is being held in collaboration with the ZHdK Foundation. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to the artists, and 50 percent to the Solidarity Fund of the ZHdK Foundation, which will use the money to provide targeted support to ZHdK students from Ukraine who are in financial distress.

    The “Attitude” exhibition
