Prof. Dr. Stephan Stubner has been appointed for another five-year term as Dean of HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. In a multi-stage process governed by HHL’s Articles of Association, the Supervisory Board, Senate and Shareholders’ Meeting each voted unanimously in favor of another term of office starting on July 1, 2022.

Stubner has been a lecturer at HHL since 2007 and has headed the Porsche AG Chair for Strategic Management and Digital Entrepreneurship since 2013. In 2017, he was appointed Dean of HHL and has since led Germany’s first business school, which was founded by Leipzig entrepreneurs in 1898.

Under Stubner’s leadership, HHL has been able to further expand its positioning as one of the leading business schools in Germany and Europe, regularly achieving top positions in national and international rankings. “It is an outstanding achievement of the entire team at HHL that we, by far the smallest business school in comparison, have been voted one of the world’s best places for management education by the Financial Times for more than 15 years now,” said Prof. Dr. Stubner about HHL’s position.

In addition to the outstanding commitment of the students and the close-knit alumni network at HHL, a wide range of initiatives such as the founding of the Institute for Family Businesses & Entrepreneurial Succession (IFU) or the new HHL DIGITAL SPACE incubator have also contributed to the school’s success. The realignment of the study programs focuses on the three topics of entrepreneurship, leadership and social competence. By spotlighting entrepreneurship, promoting start-up projects and supporting SMEs with digitalization, HHL is making an important contribution to the region’s economy. For the future up to the year 2030, HHL is pursuing a growth strategy following the motto “Accelerate2030” with regard to its study and continuing education programs, as well as the number of lecturers and students.

“Professor Stubner has successfully positioned HHL and set important new objectives for the school with the Accelerate2030 strategy. Entrepreneurship and digitalization are major topics for the coming years and the old and new dean is the right choice to further advance these topics with HHL,” said Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG and Chairman of HHL’s Supervisory Board.

“Ever since studying at HHL myself, I have known that this university is something special. I am pleased about the trust that the staff and members of the faculty and committees of this venerable institution have placed in me. My heartfelt thanks go to the entire community, especially the students and alumni, who contribute significantly to our HHL spirit,” said Prof. Dr. Stephan Stubner in response to his appointment.
