Success for the #StandWithUkraine Donation Campaign
Immediately following Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022, TU Berlin launched its own donation campaign to provide direct aid for Ukrainian researchers and students.
#StandWithUkraine has proven successful with donations totaling around 90,000 euros to date. Contributions have been received from members of the University, other private individuals, businesses, and foundations.
As a result, TU Berlin has already been able to introduce a number of targeted measures. These include co-financing in the form of bridging grants (short-term funding for up to one year) for Ukrainian mathematics and architecture master’s students. So far, 13 students have applied for funding. We have also been able to provide direct support for 19 visiting scholars and Ukrainian students enrolled at TU Berlin.
Funding for nine further visiting scholars is set to follow. This will also include funding provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for scientific cooperation.
The donations will directly benefit researchers and students who are directly affected by the war in Ukraine and enable them to integrate into the University’s academic activities and life or else continue their academic careers at TU Berlin.
Further assistance in the form of German courses and specialist support services is also planned in cooperation with a number of faculties and other institutions at TU Berlin.
