Professor Katja Andresen new head of department at Cyberagentur

Michael Lindner Presse
Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH

Business information scientist committed to a secure society

Professor Katja Andresen is moving from the Berlin School of Economics and Law to the Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit (Cyberagentur) in Halle (Saale) on 1 October 2022. The business informatics specialist will head the "Secure Society" department there in the future.

"Finally it's starting. I'm excited about my new environment, the Cyberagentur team and many exciting projects," says the Berlin-based business informatics specialist, looking forward to her new field of activity. Professor Dr. Katja Andresen completes the trio of new department heads in the Cyberagentur's Research and Innovation Department. As of 1 October, she will take over as head of the Secure Society Department.
"The digital sovereignty of society is a cornerstone for self-determined, secure action in the digital space. Innovative strategies and cross-sectoral approaches to promote an efficient, predictable and primarily trustworthy use of digital technologies and systems by various actors - such as the state, business organisation, individual - are decisive factors in shaping our societal freedom of action and decision-making in cyberspace in a future-oriented and top-level manner," Professor Andresen describes her vision for the department. Within the area of "Secure Society", five thematic fields are considered: Digital Identities, Cyber-Resilient Society, Human-Machine Interaction, Cyber-Enabled State and Digital Consumer Protection.
Professor Katja Andresen's research focus was already on IT security at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, especially in the planning of operational infrastructures. For example, she dealt with the potentials and risks of state cloud systems as well as sensitisation in dealing with information technologies and media.
"We are looking forward to having the first female head of department in the Cyberagentur team," says Research Director Prof. Dr. Christian Hummert. "We welcome her interdisciplinary approach to her scientific work. The Cyberagentur's approach is also based on the fact that the three thematic areas of Secure Society, Secure Systems and Key Technologies cannot be considered separately."
Before the Berlin School of Economics and Law, she worked at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Potsdam.
Together with Professor Katja Andresen, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Freudenberger, who, as reported (https://www.cyberagentur.de/professor-juergen-freudenberger-fuer-abteilungsleitu...), will take over the Key Technologies Department, will start on 1 October 2022.
