Das Leibniz-Institut für Psychologie (ZPID) gibt den Start der brandneuen Zeitschrift Global Environmental Psychology GEP auf seiner PsychOpen GOLD-Plattform bekannt.
Die Zeitschrift Global Environment Psychology (GEP) veröffentlicht qualitativ hochwertige theoretische und angewandte Artikel mit psychologischem Schwerpunkt zur Mensch-Umwelt Beziehung auf der PsychOpen GOLD-Plattform des ZPID. Die inhaltliche Ausrichtung, die Schwerpunkte und die Leitlinien von GEP wurden von der Forschungscommunity mitentwickelt. Die Zeitschrift wird sowohl von der International Association of People-Environment Studies (IAPS) als auch von der Fachgruppe Umweltpsychologie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Psychologie (DGPs) unterstützt.
Zwei Schwerpunkte zeichnen die GEP besonders aus: Zum einen steht sie für qualitativ hochwertige, transparente, reproduzierbare und offene Wissenschaft (open science). Und sie trägt dazu bei, das Feld der Umweltpsychologie diverser zu gestalten. Dies soll durch die Zusammenarbeit mit und auch die Beachtung von Autorinnen und Autoren, Populationen und Methoden, die gegenwärtig unterrepräsentiert sind, gelingen.
Global Environmental Psychology füllt so eine bisher unbesetzte Lücke im Bereich der Umweltpsychologie. Viele etablierte Forschende aus aller Welt haben sich bereits sehr positiv zur Gründung der neuen Zeitschrift geäußert:

Auch das PsychOpen GOLD-Team des Leibniz-Instituts für Psychologie (ZPID) freut sich, dass Global Environmental Psychology nun an den Start geht. Prof. Armin Günther, Managing Editor von PsychOpen GOLD meint: „Mit GEP können wir der Psychologie-Community nun eine hochwertige Publikationsmöglichkeit für ein weiteres wichtiges Forschungsgebiet anbieten. GEP wird außerdem einen wichtigen wissenschaftlichen Beitrag zu Themen von hoher Aktualität und großer gesellschaftlicher Bedeutung leisten. Darüber hinaus ergänzt und erweitert GEP in hervorragender Weise eine weitere PsychOpen GOLD Zeitschrift, Psychology of Human-Animal Intergroup Relations (PHAIR), die ebenfalls seit kurzem auf unserer Plattform erscheint.“
GEP lädt ab sofort zur Einreichung von qualitativ hochwertigen Manuskripten ein und begrüßt sowohl Einzelbeiträge als auch Beiträge zu einem der folgenden beiden Schwerpunktthemen:
- Living with Environmental Change, Gastherausgeber Dr. Charles Ogunbode und Dr. Susan Clayton
- Responding to the Socio-Ecological Crisis: Collective Action and Activism, Gastherausgeber Dr. Winnifred Louis, Dr. Sara Vestergren und Dr. Sebastian Bamberg.
Wie alle Zeitschriften, die bei PsychOpen GOLD veröffentlicht werden, wird auch GEP als Diamond Open Access Zeitschrift erscheinen, also für Leserinnen und Leser sowie Autorinnen und Autoren kostenfrei zugänglich sein.
